LARABAR EXPLOSION!!!

I don't think I'll be needing to buy any Larabars for a while.  I ordered some on Amazon because I have a hard time finding the flavors I like at the grocery store.  I got four boxes (16 bars in each box): Lemon, Key Lime, Blueberry Muffin, and Cappuccino.  Lemon is my favorite!  Cherry Torte is a close second (I didn't buy any of those online because Giant always has that flavor).  I had never even seen the Cappuccino flavor before, so I bought some...it's actually pretty good!  I usually eat half a Larabar before I go to the gym in the morning...16 bars a box times 4 boxes times 2 servings a bar divided by 5 days of working out a week = I'm good to go on Larabar consumption for more than 25 weeks! :)

So, if you were wondering...

I did wake up and go to the gym this morning....wahoo!  I didn't go to my usual 6am though.  I went to the 8:30 class.  And since I had a meeting at 10, I brought my work clothes and shower stuff to the gym and got ready there.

Since I knew I would be running around today I made myself a smoothie (zone of course) for breakfast, which I drank after the gym.  Supposedly you are suppose to eat breakfast within one hour of waking up.  That has always been an issue for me, since I usually wake up at 5 to go to the gym at 6...and food in my stomach before a WOD is never a good thing!  I usually just eat half a Lara Bar to hold me over until after the workout.  So I had my smoothie at 10 at my meeting.  After the meeting Dad and I went to Chick-fil-a.  It smelled sooooo good, even before we stepped inside the doors.  Mmmm, I LOVE their waffle fries!...BUT, I was good.  I got the char-grilled chicken sandwich, a small fruit cup, and a side of chick-fil-a sauce.  Since I had breakfast just a couple hours earlier, this was just a one block snack.  I threw away the bun and I cut up the chicken breast and only ate about an ounce (1 block protein) and brought the rest home for a snack later.  I dipped the chicken in the chick-fil-a sauce (1 block fat) and then the side of fruit for my block of carbs.  So even though I was on the road this morning...and was tempted with the delicious smell of waffle fries...I was able to keep in zone!

Vanilla Almond Cherry Smoothie
Serves 1
3 Zone Blocks

1/2 cup Greek Yogurt (1.5 blocks protein, 0.5 blocks carbs)
1 cup frozen cherries (2.5 blocks carbs)
1 tbsp almond butter (3 blocks carbs)
1 tbsp PurePea Natural Vanilla Pea Protein (1.5 blocks protein)

Jones'n!

I'm jones'n for some CROSSFIT!!!  I haven't been to the gym since Thursday!...I am still sore from Thursday's workout though!  Monday's are usually my rest day...but considering the last three days have been rest days...I think I'll go ;)
Hmmm...I wonder what the workout is going to be?...it's after 7...let me check...

As many rounds as possible in 15 mins of:
100 m Run
10 Box Jumps
10 Push-ups
10 Sit-ups

And Max Rep strict pull ups

Sounds like a good day...now I just need to get up in the morning!  It's been hard lately...not sure why, no motivation maybe...
I do have motivation to go tomorrow though...I had two pieces of pie today!!!  yike!  It was really yummy though.  It's from my favorite pie shop...Pie Gourmet in Vienna.  I got blackberry peach...SO good!  There is still more pie left...so I'm gunna have to eat the rest at some point :)
Yup...definitely have motivation to wake up and go to the gym tomorrow!...and the rest of the week!
I'll report back tomorrow with my workout results.

Tuna fish...hummus???

So one of the reasons I decided to start writing in my blog again is because Nick and I decided to start a weight loss challenge of our own...similar to the challenge we did a couple years ago.  Basically the deal is:  If Nick gets to his goal weight and I don't, I have to pay him $500.  If I get to my goal weight and he doesn't, he pays me $500.  If we both get there...then no money is exchanged.  If we both don't get there, no money is exchanged and we both...well, suck :(  There are a couple other aspects to our arrangement.  One of them is for him to post in MyFitnessPal everyday where he can record his calories and stuff.  Since I don't count my calories because I eat Paleo-ish and try to keep it Zone, my part of the deal is to post in my blog instead of in MyFitnessPal.

I haven't gone grocery shopping yet, so today I was trying to concoct some sort of Zone meal with the things I currently have in my kitchen for breakfast this morning.  I didn't have a plan, so I just kind of winged it...grabbing one ingredient after the other...and I came up with what I like to call Tuna Fish Hummus.  There are no chickpeas in it...but I served it with pita bread, and it's kinda of mushy like hummus...so I'm calling it hummus!

Tuna Fish Hummus
Serves: 2
Zone blocks: 3 blocks per serving

Ingredients:
2oz can of tuna fish
3 hard boiled eggs, diced/mashed
1 tbsp mayonaise
1 tbsp of chili garlic sauce
1 tsp mustard
~18 banana peppers
~25-30 grape tomatoes, halved
2 pieces of Joseph's Flax, Oat Bran & Whole Wheat Pita Bread (only 8 carbs per piece...almost a perfect zone block)
2 individually packed Unsweetened Appleasauces

Instuctions:
Mix all ingredients together, excluding the pita bread and applesauce.  Toast the pita bread and slice into four pieces each.  Serve with the side of applesauce.

It was pretty yummy...I was pretty impressed with my concoction skills :)
Voila...

I'm Baaaaack...

So...it's been a while since I posted on this thing.  My goal is to be more consistent with writing in this blog, in hopes it will help keep me accountable as I continue my journey to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Which actually reminds me of a funny side story.
This summer my brother, Nick, and I attempted to dig up a time capsule that we buried about 16 years ago.  We buried it at our summer camp.  It was a pretty amusing event.  Nick and I are digging...I'm wearing Jeremy's sneakers two sizes too big.  Every family member is yelling and saying we are digging in the wrong place, even though they didn't even remember us burying a time capsule so many years ago.  We kept hearing a "clink" and it would make us so excited...only to be disappointed to discover it was only a rock.  Long story short...we did not find the time capsule...but I remembered that I kept a journal that year at camp and I drew a map of where we buried it. (see picture below)  This journal was at home, so when we got back from vacation I found the journal and looked at the map...
We were SO close!  Probably just inches away!
But this is not the side story I was talking about...this was the pre-side story.
The real side story:  When I found my journal that had the map in it, I saw that I made a pledge to myself.  It read, "I Caitlin, swear to write in this book everyday of camp for the rest of my life starting in 1997 at the first day of camp.  Signed, Caitlin Rossi"  So I was feeling nostalgic and decided to flip through the journal.  I read the first entry...talking about how my cousin Jeremy's wedding was the next day, I listened to the new Spice Girls album, and that I was watching 20/20 now that T.G.I.F was over.  The last sentence of the entry was "Well got to check out, I'll write tomorrow."  So I flip the page...
Empty!  Hahahaha, I couldn't believe it!  (well I could...that's totally like me)  Only ONE entry...but I swore to myself...I even signed it!
Which brings me to my point...I'm not going to swear to myself, and I won't sign anything, but I do hope that I will post in this blog everyday...or almost everyday!
Well got to check out, I'll write tomorrow ;)
